Frequently asked questions

Are the tours held in English?

Yes. All tours in this programme are guided in English. Would you prefer a tour in German? Just get in touch, we will find a solution.

Where do the tours start?

Most tours start and end at or near the CCH, Congress Center Hamburg. One exception: the Walking Tour Coffee meets Chocolate starts and ends in the Speicherstadt, at the Rosinenfischer-Kontor, Auf dem Sande 1, 20457 Hamburg, and does not include a bus shuttle. All the important details, start time, meeting point and everything else you need to know, are printed on your ticket and listed in each tour description on this page.

What should I wear or bring?

Hamburg’s weather can change quickly. We recommend comfortable shoes and a weatherproof jacket, because most tours include time outdoors.

Can I bring my partner or family?

Of course, everyone is welcome. Simply book a ticket for each guest. Two tours, Miniatur Wunderland and Hamburg’s Chocolate Sides, are especially family-friendly.

Which payment methods can I use?

You can pay online by credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, iDEAL, Bancontact and Alipay.

Do I need cash in Hamburg?

A few euros in your pocket are a good idea. Cards are widely accepted, but every now and then you will come across a shop, café or kiosk where cash is the only option. That is simply part of Hamburg. And a small tip for the harbour round trip: the drinks on board can only be paid for in cash.

What if I need to cancel, or a tour cannot take place?

The cancellation conditions are shown during the booking process. If a tour cannot take place, for example if the minimum group size is not reached, ticket holders will be informed in good time.

How do I get around Hamburg?

Public transport: Hamburg’s public transport network hvv connects the whole city with metro trains, buses and even harbour ferries. Download the hvv app. It puts the full timetable in your pocket, and you can buy your tickets right in the app.

Bike sharing: With StadtRAD, Hamburg’s bike-sharing system, you can pick up a rental bike at more than 350 stations across the city. Simply register via the StadtRAD Hamburg app and unlock a bike by scanning its QR code.

E-scooters: Several sharing providers, Bolt, Dott, Lime, Voi and Ryde, offer rental e-scooters all over the city. Download the provider’s app, and a map shows you the nearest available scooter to unlock.

Taxis: Taxis are easy to find. You can call Hansa-Taxi (+49 40 211 211), Taxi Hamburg (+49 40 666 666) or Das Taxi (+49 40 22 11 22), or use the FREE NOW app.

Uber: Uber is also available in Hamburg, simply request a ride in the Uber app, just as you would at home.

MOIA: MOIA is Hamburg’s electric ridepooling service, book a shared ride in the MOIA app and get picked up at a virtual stop nearby.

Good to know

All tours are subject to a minimum number of participants and the availability of all partners involved. Meeting points and detailed information are sent automatically with your booking confirmation. The cancellation conditions shown during the booking process apply.
